Head of Renewables , ACTIS
Lucy joined Actis’ predecessor organisation, CDC, in 2001 and is responsible for Actis’ renewable generation activity globally, as well as being Head of Africa for energy. She is also responsible for ESG for energy, working closely with Actis’s specialist Responsible Investment team.
She has 16 years of investment experience in growth markets, including five years of operational experience as a Project Director at Globeleq, a Fund 1 and Fund 2 portfolio company, in the business development team.
Recent deal experience includes creation of the Aela and Lekela platforms, for which she is investment manager. Related deals include the acquisition of Taiba in Senegal for Lekela in 2016, the acquisition of 300MW of wind projects into Aela in 2016 from Mainstream Renewable Power, and the development of a 250MW wind project in Egypt for Lekela in 2015,
Other transaction experience includes the acquisition of Songas in Tanzania in 2003, the acquisition of Sidi Krir in Egpyt in 2004, Cerro de Hula for GME in 2010 and also the investment into GVK in 2010. While at Globeleq, Lucy also developed projects in Algeria and Nigeria. Prior to joining CDC, she worked at UBS Warburg from 1994 to 1999 as a Director in the fixed income division, initially in bond sales to Central Banks globally and then trading emerging market local currency derivatives.
Lucy currently serves as a Board member of Lekela Power and Aela Energia. She also chairs the Audit and ESG Board sub committees for both businesses.
Lucy holds an MA (Hons) degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) from Trinity College, Oxford and an MBA degree (with distinction) from INSEAD.
